EduTaste: blind aroma training kits for wine and coffee

EduTaste kits contain physical reference-aroma vials, each with a QR code.

Smell the vial blind and scan its QR code. Shuffle the vials, scan them in order and the app scores every answer.

Wine Intro and Coffee Intro kits are €40 each at launch. Register interest and we'll email you when the kits are ready.

Questions

How does EduTaste work?

Each kit holds six reference-aroma vials, each with its own QR code. Shuffle the vials by hand, then scan them in order with the EduTaste app: all six, or fewer if you choose a shorter session. Open each vial in the same order, first to last, smell it and pick the aroma you think it is. The app scores every answer and shows which aromas you know well and which you confuse.

Do I need the app?

Yes. The vials are deliberately unlabelled, so the app is how you train blind and how you find out which aroma is which. It's free with every kit and works in your phone's browser or as an installed app on iPhone and Android. You'll need a smartphone with a camera and an internet connection.

How long do the aromas last?

Kept upright with the caps closed, away from heat and direct sunlight, the aromas stay usable for around 12 months after opening. Some notes, especially citrus, fade sooner, so close each vial straight after smelling it.

Is it safe to smell the vials?

Yes, when used as intended. Open one vial at a time, smell the contents or the inside of the cap from a few centimetres away, then close it. The vials are for smelling only: don't drink or taste them, or put them on your skin, and keep them out of reach of children and pets. If you have a fragrance allergy or asthma, check with your doctor first. Wash any spills off skin with soap and water.

Is EduTaste suitable for beginners?

Yes. No tasting experience is needed. Once an aroma is revealed, the app's Aroma Library explains it, so beginners learn from the very first session.

Can I use EduTaste with a class or team?

Yes. We work with wine schools, tutors and course providers, and with wine shops, restaurants and roasters. Each student or staff member trains on their own phone and their results are tracked individually. Tell us about your class or team on our educators and teams page and we'll suggest the right kits.
